American Life League’s Video Report on Children's Sex Book

This news is somewhat old, more than a week old in fact. The media director for American Life League (ALL) has contacted us to ask whether the Vote Life, Canada! blogsite will post their new series of bi-weekly webcasts. This is their first video in this series and by now we know the video did make a big splash.

American Life League Releases Video Report on Children's Sex Book

WASHINGTON, D.C. · November 19, 2007 / PRNewswire / – "Parents need to know what Planned Parenthood has in store for their children and this report is an excellent starting point," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. "The book 'It's Perfectly Normal' is obscene and offensive to Christians."

American Life League's second video report exposes the contents of the book "It's Perfectly Normal." Recently, a Washington State Prison rejected a fundraising letter that included censored images from the book for being "sexually explicit" and "obscene."

American Life League released the report as a part of its continuing effort to educate the public on Planned Parenthood's activities.

"This video report is just the beginning," said Sedlak. "We will continue to use this new media to expose the nation's largest abortion chain and we call on Christians across the nation to join us in putting a stop to tax payer funds for Planned Parenthood."

Great Britain Passes the 40 Year Mark for the Abortion Act—Killings Will Continue

I was alerted to this “reality-check” YouTube video through Blogger Mac McLernon in Great Britain who opens up a big window for us on the current debate in that country over abortion law reform. I touched upon this subject previously in the Vote Life, Canada! blog.

In her posting she describes an online petition which called for the UK government to reduce the time limit for abortions and she signed the petition herself but had serious reservations in doing so.

She points readers to a posting by Fr John Boyle who blogs at “South Ashford Priest.” Fr. Boyle reported that he wouldn't sign the petition, even though the petition is very much in line with last week’s statement from Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor. In fact Fr. Boyle is directly opposed to the Cardinal’s stance. Blogger Mac now says the more she thinks about it, the more she agrees with Fr. Boyle and now she regrets signing the petition.

She also reports that Damian Thompson has weighed in at The Telegraph with his views. Thompson describes two polarities in the pro-life movement in Great Britain, much the same as what exists wherever people fight the evil of abortion.

On one side stand the incrementalists or “realists” such as Thompson and Cardinal Murphy O’Connor in Great Britain, the Family Research Council in the US or Campaign Life Coalition in Canada. On the other side stands the “purists” or “hard-liners” such as the SPUC in Great Britain or the American Life League in the US. There’s much debate over which is the most effective—or even morally correct—strategy. In my mind it’s largely a matter of strategy versus principle.

But that could easily be the subject of another posting.

In any case, read through Mac’s posting and Father Boyle’s blog as well. It will certainly expand your perspective on many fronts.

The hour in Canada is late.

Canada has descended into an immoral, God-forsaken abyss with little hope of recovery. Every moral minded Canadian unsure of this reality needs to take time right away to ponder our grim predicament. At stake is nothing less than the soul of our nation, our souls and the souls of our children and grandchildren.

We’ve run out of time and drastic measures are required in order to ensure a future for Canada. The greatest threat to that future is the impending judgment of God on a society that tolerates the heinous injustice of legalized child-killing. This insidious evil has resulted to date in the destruction of three million of Canada’s unborn children—the most vulnerable and defenseless of all human beings in our society.

No other injustice compares with this one. No other business is as urgent to address as this. The killing of fellow human beings has sentenced Canada to a death spiral which is leading us steadily to a barbaric societal collapse.

This war against the Unborn must somehow be immediately stopped. To do so, the political fabric of Canada must be purged from every threat against the Unborn. Any degree of tolerance for abortion means death to unborn humans and that must mean rejection of the candidate. If politicians aren’t ready to respect the life of a small defenseless child, do you want to trust them with your life and future?

Vote Life, Canada! has been very distressed over how this international challenge to the right to life of unborn children has been met. The Bishops have failed. Christian leaders everywhere have failed.

It took only a few days before we heard news that AI was teaming up for a conference with the biggest international leaders in the child-killing business.

God help the little ones. God help us.

9-11 Tribute To Victims Of Violence

On this day six years ago, violent acts of evil men killed thousands in New York City. To them, and to all those whose lives and God-given purposes have been, and continue to be, thwarted and cut short by the violence of their fellow man, this video is dedicated.

Amnesty International Reverses Stance On The Death Penalty

That’s right. Yesterday, at the conclusion of Amnesty’s international meeting in Mexico City, it reported affirmation of its new policy of advancing a woman’s right to put her unborn child to death. And the organization declares it will work to see that abortion is decriminalized everywhere. The Reuters report appears below.

Amnesty backs right to abortion despite Church

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Human rights group Amnesty International on Friday backed women's right to an abortion if their lives are in danger or if they have been raped in a move likely to anger the Catholic Church.

The Church, which considers abortion to be murder and never justified, has urged Catholic organizations to withdraw their support for Amnesty over the policy. The Vatican says Amnesty has "betrayed its mission."

At the end of its annual meeting in Mexico City, Amnesty said it would work to "support the decriminalization of abortion, to ensure women have access to heath care when complications arise from abortion and to defend women's access to abortion ... when their health or human rights are in danger."

Amnesty Secretary General Irene Khan told Reuters in July that the new policy, inspired by rapes in war zones such as Darfur, urged governments to provide safe abortions when women conceive after rape or incest or when a pregnant woman's life is threatened.

Bishop William Skylstad, head of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, said in July the decision "undermines Amnesty's long-standing moral credibility" and called on the London-based rights group, founded by a Catholic layman, to reverse its policy.

Jail Time For Women Who Commit Abortions?

It all started on YouTube—a video project on the Libertyville Abortion demonstration where pro-life protesters seemed unable to provide the answer to the cameraman’s question: Were abortion to be illegal in the future, what sentence should be given for women who abort?

Anna Quindlen subsequently stepped into the picture with her Newsweek commentary, “How Much Jail Time?”

Anna’s comments prompted a response from leaders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, the nation's largest network of women and men harmed by abortion.

This may seem like just another spat in the endless controversy over legalized child-murder in the US (and Canada.) However, some very important points are raised in this particular incident and those concerned about making gains in defending unborn children are well advised to explore this story and bolster their pro-life expertise for the next opportunity which presents itself. This is crucial strategy for waging successful war against the culture of death.

So, returning to the story at hand, should pro-lifers squirm at the question of punishment for the mother who would abort?

Not at all.

National Review came up with a series of excellent responses by pro-life experts.

Use these as tools to sharpen your truth-telling skills. As always, the truth is our best defense as well as our best offense. And Jesus Christ, Truth Incarnate, declared to all mankind the path to true freedom: “…the truth shall set you free.”
